The Live Comics Show application period officially closed on 15 September 2024, and the response has been incredible: creative Duos from across Europe came together to share their unique visions of their hypothetical live comic performance, making this call already a truly inspiring experience just starting from their applications!
After much deliberation, let us introduce you the four selected projects and their creators:
- Moby Dick City Blues by Miorelli x Bechini (mentored by COMICON, Italy)
- Inyeon by Henin x Marty (mentored by On a Marché sur la Bulle, France)
- Am I Not a Woman? by Zhou x Ruth Frias (mentored by Amadora BD, Portugal)
- MONKEYBIZ by Valagussa x Del Grandi (mentored by Brussels Comic Art Museum, Belgium)
A big thank you goes to the amazing jury, who had the challenging task of selecting the winners:
- Davide Toffolo: Comic artist and musician representing Italy.
- Vincent Eches: Director of the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée in France.
- João Mascarenhas: Artist and illustrator from Portugal.
- Julie Tait: Founder of the globally renowned Lakes International Comic Art Festival in the UK.
The big debut is set for COMICON Napoli 2025, where these incredible performances will hit the stage. Get ready to experience the magic of The Live Comics Show in front of thousands of fans, artists, and professionals.
