Comics Beyond live show: the European tour continues!
From South Korea to Portugal, from the UK to Belgium – comics come to life on stage
The Comics Beyond performances continue their journey across Europe, bringing to the stage a new and spectacular way of telling comic stories.
In recent months, three shows have animated major international festivals:
Moby Dick City Blues – Hercegnovski Strip Festival (Montenegro)
Featuring Cosimo Miorelli and Stefano Bechini, blending digital illustration and live music in a contemporary reimagining of Melville’s masterpiece.
Dessine-moi Inyeon (“Draw Me Inyeon”) – Lakes International Comic Art Festival (UK)
With Jung and Laëtitia Marty: an intense performance that weaves together acting, singing, and live drawing to tell the story of a woman searching for her origins.
Next stop: Am I Not a Woman? – Amadora BD Festival (Portugal, October 25, 2025). Created by Quan Zhou and Verónica Ruth Frías, this performative piece explores female identity and its evolution throughout history and art.
After that, Monkeybiz by Cecilia Valagussa and Marta Del Grandi, coming this winter to the Brussels Comic Strip Museum.
A tour that merges comics, music, theatre, and performance, supported by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme, and made possible through the collaboration between the project’s international partners.
Comics Beyond is supported by the European Commission as part of the Creative Europe – Cultural cooperation projects (small scale) program. Four comics professional structures from different countries are cooperating to make the project a reality: the Brussels Comic Art Museum (Belgium), Amadora BD (Portugal), Rendez-vous BD Amiens (France) and COMICON Napoli (Italy), in partnership with Escola Joso (Spain), Art Bubble Festival (Denmark) and the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival (United-Kingdom).
Led by the Brussels Comic Art Museum, Comics Beyond brings together all of these renowned international partners, each one working on different aspects of the project, to make the project’s mission a reality and to develop an European network for comic art.
